Patrick O'Malley is a hard-nosed business man. He is also a kind, gentle man who once had a great love affair with his wife. When Cornelia became sick and died, however, Patrick was devastated, believing he would never find love again. Maggie Bradford changed all that. He fell head over heels in love and was willing to wait for her to get over her first husband's cruelty and learn to trust in him. The couple later move in together and have a little boy. Unfortunately, shortly after their son's birth, they go yachting together, and Patrick has a fatal heart attack and dies. His death becomes seen as suspicious when Maggie is later accused of Will Shepard's murder. The press has a heyday casting Maggie as a three time murderer of the men in her life.
