Pancho Sanchez is the seventeen-year-old protagonist of the story. When the novel begins, Pancho is being driven to St. Anthony's orphanage for older boys after having been kicked out of his most recent foster home for violence. He is an extremely angry, bitter teenager whose only goal in life is the find the man who killed his sister, and seek his revenge.
