Oy is a billy-bumbler that adopts Jake just a few days after Jake enters Roland's world. This animal is described as a cross between a badger and raccoon. These animals have gold-rimmed eyes and a coiled tail like a corkscrew. It is Oy who falls off the bridge and distracts the group from noticing that Gasher has approached. However, it is also Oy who leads Roland through the maze and helps him free Jake. Oy has the ability to talk, or at least copy the sounds made by other people. As Roland learns while the two are trying to locate Jake, Oy also has the ability to follow directions as well as the ability to count.
