Oliver North was a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Marine Corps when he became deeply involved in the Iran-Contra scandal. North is suspected of directing the sales of weapons to the Iranian government and later attempting to destroy any evidence of his involvement. When the scandal breaks, Thompson is certain that North will face jail time.... and that his only way out will be to implicate either President Reagan or Vice President Bush. if he wants to avoid it. When North testifies before the House of Representatives, however, he makes himself appear to be a national hero..... convincing many along the way.
