Who is NVA from What It Is Like to Go to War and what is their importance?

NVA is the acronym for the North Vietnames Army. This group was Marlantes' primary enemy in the war. The NVA proved to be formidable fighters in the jungles, and At the during the time of his combat service, Marlantes, like most soldiers, believed the NVA to be less than human. He later came to discourage this viewpoint among the men in his command.
