Nick Sparagmos and Rachel meet while Rachel is transformed into a mink, and Nick is a rat. The two are thrown into a pit where they are expected to fight to the death, but they are subsequently able to escape. Nick stays with Rachel after the escape, and later saves her from a demon. He even makes a deal with the demon to take them home. What Nick doesn't realize at the time, is that the demon will expect a favor for his help.
