Niccolo Machiavelli lived from 1469-1527. He iwas a well-known Italian statesman, writer, philosophy, diplomat and political scientist, and the author of the Discourses. Machiavelli is best known for The Prince, which was written in 1513 and published following his death in 1532. The term "Machiavellian" has become a widely used term for wily and deceptive politicking.
