Who is Nereus from The Warlock and what is their importance?

Nereus, the Old Man of the Sea, is a creature with a human torso and octopus legs. He goes out of his way to make it difficult for Dee and Josh to get to Alcatraz by having his daughters, the Nereids, attack their boat. In addition, he gives Dee the Lotan egg.
