Mwahu is the leader of the trio of men who first chase Karen and Miyuki from the temple pyramids, and then ransack the office at the university. He has a tattoo of the same snake on his arm as is represented in the pyramid. He is also a descendant of Horon-ko, the Great ancestor who protected his people. Mwahu is one of the men chosen by the elders to protect the pyramids, and at first does so with great zeal, but when it becomes obvious that Karen and Jack are not there to hurt their ancient site, he is tasked with helping to protect them instead. He helps them elude the Chinese when the first invasion force arrives and later helps Karen, Jack and Miyuki to decode the writing from the temple pyramids and from the platinum covered diary in Horon-ko's tomb.
