Mrs. Dexter is Jamie's mother. she is a southern belle and a former debutante. She seems to be a stay-at-home mom, taking care of the house, the kids and the Colonel. Jamie says that Mrs. Dexter has a silent way of always getting her way. This makes Jamie believe that it is her mother that has put the Colonel up to trying to talk TJ out of going to Vietnam.
