Who is Mother from A Dog's Purpose and what is their importance?

Toby's mother, who is a feral dog, has a litter of four puppies.... including Toby. She teaches her pups to fear humans and forage for food. She also teaches Toby how to twist the knob on the gate and escape the yard.
