Missy Peckham was from Chicago. She lived with Ben Venn and raised Tom, who also lived with them. Missy later went to Alaska with Ben and Tom, and after Ben's death, she and Tom moved to Dawson City. Missy operated a restaurant tent in Dawson city, before taking a job at a hospital in Nome. Eventually, she moved to Juneau with Matt Murphy. Missy was a huge supporter of Alaskan statehood. She died at the age of eighty-three, on the very day that Alaska became the forty-ninth state.
