Mike Wynn, Stephen Wynn's father, was the single, greatest influence in his life. He is described as a handsome man with dark hair, who had a penchant for custom-made suits. Wynn could talk his way out of anything, and he took pride in his ability to provide for his family.
Wynn's mother died when he was just a boy, and he and his brother were placed in foster care. He later took a job at a soda company, after which, he changed his name because he thought the owners might be anti-Semitic. Despite his young age, Mike cared for his younger brother Kenneth, who was ten years his junior.
As a young man, Wynn quickly noticed that people rarely missed attending bingo, and at seventeen, he managed his first bingo hall. Wynn went on to both succeed and fail in various aspects of the gaming industry until his death in 1963.
