Maxine Weir is an actress who hires Ingraham to help her recover insurance money after a car accident that left her with a severe neck sprain. Maxine and Ingraham become lovers and Ingraham convinces Maxine to give up acting and to run away with him once they receive the insurance payoff. However, instead of running off with Maxine, Ingraham takes his share of the money and plans to fake his death and run off to Mexico. However, Maxine shows up at his barge the night he plans to fake his death. Ingraham kills Maxine so that he can take her share of the money too and escape without her.
