Who is Marty Rathbun from Inside Scientology: The Story of America's Most Secretive Religion and what is their importance?

Marty Rathbun, former inspector general of the Church of Scientology, was initially a member of Miscavige's team. He joined Scientology in 1977 and was considered Miscavige's enforcer years. Rathbun assisted Miscavige in dismantling the Guardian's Office and was instrumental in the settlement of the case against Scientology by the IRS.

In 2004, Rathbun realized that although he still loved Scientology, he did not agree with the way Miscavige was handling the organization. He publically revealed that Miscavige had begun beating his staff, Rathbun and left..... more appropriately "escaped" from the organization. Rathbun went onto establish his own independent Scientology network online.
