Marc Antony served with Caesar. When Antony met Cleopatra for the first time, she was just a child, but he later admited that he never forgot her. Antony is described as self-centered, and he seemed almost inept while in Caesar's shadow.

Antony seduced Cleopatra at their first meeting after Caesar's death, but he was married at the time, and Cleopatra knew their relationship was doomed. After his wife's death, Cleopatra believed it might be the right time to form a union...... she was wrong, as Antony had already remarried to the sister of a man he hoped to hold as an ally in the quest to rule Rome. In the end, Antony decided to wed Cleopatra, but he never divorced his wife.
