Mack Stroupe is a hot dog vendor who is running for mayor. When Mack begins running for mayor, he has a brand new truck and he is throwing money around all over town. Due to the fact that Mack is known to beat his wife and keep a girlfriend in another town, no one in Mitford is interested in voting for him. However, Mack pushes the idea that change is good for Mitford and takes credit for several possible real estate development deals. Slowly people begin changing their opinions and supporting Mack. It looks like Mack will win the election, even though Father Tim has discovered that Mack is getting support from a rich neighbor. In the end, Mack and Esther tie, causing a coin toss to make Esther mayor again.
