Lomitas is a horse that Monty meets in 1991. Monty says that meeting Lomitas is one of the defining moments in his life. This horse is owned by a German man and is the highest rated two year old in Germany in 1990. Monty describes Lomitas as a "good looking chestnut colt." He feels that this horse has extraordinary intelligence and talent. Unfortunately, shortly into Lomitas' racing career, his owner is blackmailed. The main who is attempting the blackmail poisons Lomitas. Although the horse survives, the poison affects his foot, and he is no longer able to race.
