Joseph Shing is a member of the first group of Humans that Lilith awakes to take to Earth. Joseph and Lilth soon begin a relationship and for this reason Joseph is in some danger because the other Humans fear Lilith. Joseph is given amazing healing powers in the hopes that if he is attacked he will not die. Joseph is attacked and while laying unconscious, his attackers, who had only meant to knock him out, watch his body heal itself. The attackers become frightened and one of them, believing Joseph cannot be Human, begins hacking at Joseph until he is almost decapitated. Joseph's genetic code is saved and Lilith is impregnated with several of Joseph's children including Akin, although Joseph has been dead for thirty years when Akin was born.
