John Foster Dulles was a part of the American delegation to the Versailles Peace Conference. He was a senior Partner in Sullivan and Cromwell, wrote the Japanese Peace Treaty, and was the Republican spokesman on foreign policy for a decade before he became Eisenhower's Secretary of State. Eisenhower said Dulles "had been training for this job all of his life" (p. 289). Dulles served as Eisenhower's Secretary of State until his death on March 24, 1959.
