Who is John Eliot from The World Turned Upside Down: Indian Voices from Early America and what is their importance?

John Eliot was the New England missionary who established "praying towns" with the intention of both educating and converting Indian communities. He was the author of "dialogues", which was intended to help converted Indians who returned to their tribe to answer questions about Christianity.
