John Asselta, also known as "The Ghost", is one Ken Klein's friends from childhood. He is searching for Ken because he wants to right a wrong against the only person who ever really cared for him—Julie Miller. John also turns in information on Philip McGuane, who killed Nora's brutally abusive husband. In the end, we learn that John's conviction as a child killer was unwarranted, and that it was actually Ken who committed the crime.
