Who is Jeronimo de la Cruz from Purity of Blood and what is their importance?

Jeronimo de la Cruz is Vicente's oldest son. He manages to escape from the ambush in which his father and younger brother are killed, only to look on helplessly while his sister is burned at the stake. Jeronimo is suspected to be the masked man who later assassinates Fray Coroado.
