Jack is the Captain of Deep Fathom, a ship leased for exploration. He and his crew are working on deep sea explorations. Jack is a private man. It has not always been that way. When he proposed to his girlfriend, he could not have been happier or more in love with her and life. When the space shuttle they were on came apart on reentry and he was the sole survivor, his life imploded. A strong and resourceful ex-Navy man, he would happily trade his life now to save the lives of his former crew and undo the accident that changed everything. Now, a shell of his former self, he lives on his boat and avoids as much of life as he can. His relationships lack depth and he meets physical needs without any heart or soul attached and for the most part he prefers a more solo emotional existence.
