Huey Cotton is Joe Hickey's simple minded cousin. He is described as and gentle man, who is only dangerous when someone upsets him. Teased repeatedly as a child, Huey does not like children to run away from him, and he is said to have a soft spot for little girls because he lost his little sister to illness as a child. When Hickey kidnaps children, Huey is put in charge of their care. He is kind and gentle with the children, and he often carves them figurines out of wood. When he is given Abby to care for, the two of them play together, and before long..... Huey sees a great similarity to his sister in her. As a result, the two develop a bond, and Huey is reluctant to harm Abby should he be given the order. In the end, Huey attacks Hickey to stop him from killing Abby.
