Harold Smith is a client to who Laura delivers food as the result of her Norma-inspired decision to help the shut-ins of Twin Peaks. She describes him as a handsome, intelligent, vulnerable and trustworthy man..... the same qualities she sees herself betraying when she forcibly seduces him. Ultimately, Harold is the last person she trusts, which is evident in her decision to leave her diary with him for safekeeping.
