Who is Hansjakob and Thomas from Spinners and what is their importance?

Hansjakob and Thomas are farmers who pick up the tailor on the side of the road and take him home with them in exchange for custom made clothing. Hansjakob is the father, Thomas the son. For more than a month, Hansjakob and Thomas make the tailor feel as though he is a part of the family. However, on Thomas's birthday, they discuss a trip they can now make because the tailor can remain at the house to care for the animals. This makes the tailor feel like a servant and he leaves.
