Gwen Cooper is March's daughter. She brings Gwen to Jenkintown with her because Gwen has become a wild fifteen-year-old girl, who is doing drugs and having sex.

Gwen is unhappy in Jenkintown until she meets Tarot, the racehorse. Gwen goes to see Tarot on a daily basis, grooming him and riding him whenever possible. During her time with Tarot, Gwen also becomes acquainted with Hank Murray, her first cousin, and the two fall in love. Unfortunately, it's about this time that things start going wrong. Hollis had promised to Gwen ownership of Tarot if she didn't stand between him and her mother, but he reneged. Gwen later returns home, a more mature girl, who has learned the difference between wants and needs.
