Guy appears in the story, A Wall of Fire Rising. He is a poor sugar mill worker. Guy and his family live in the shantytown, as he doesn't make enough money to support his family. Over time, Tom becomes obsessed with the mill owner's hot-air balloon. He dreams of beginning a new life in a faraway land by traveling in the balloon. He later steals the balloon and takes a ride before taking his own life. Tom uses the balloon to jump to his death.
