Guillermo Kahlo was Frida's father. He was a German immigrant. He and Matilde meet while he is working in a jewelry store La Perla. He later takes up photography. Guillermo provides a good income for this family due to a contract he has with the Mexican government..... a commission to capture Mexican images. The Mexican Revolution, however, cuts off his income completely. Guillermo is described as an eccentric and misanthropic individual, who had a great deal of respect and love for Frida...... Frida was very like him.
