Glen Tinbergen is the principle at Pecking School. Torey likes Mr. Tinbergen because he allows her students to take an active role in all school activities. When Mr. Tinbergen awards Jeremiah a prize for having the best tail during the school's Halloween party, he shows that he is mindful of the needs even of the students who make trouble for others. Torey is troubled, however, when Mr. Tinbergen laughs off the incident of the scar on Amber's abdomen. Like others, Mr. Tinbergen does not seem to want to accept the idea that any serious abuse could be happening to any of his students. When Torey does finally tell Mr. Tinbergen the things that Jadie has told her, he calls for outside forces to come and help with the case.
