Who is Gerald Skibbow from The Neutronium Alchemist Consolidation and what is their importance?

Skibbow uproots his family from its poor but stable life in the New Brussels arcology on Earth for a chance to start over on the newly settles planet of Lalonde. During the outbreak of the possessed virus, his family is killed and Gerald is possessed. He is captured by Ralph Hiltch's commando unit, and placed in zero-tau for the journey to Ombrey.
