Another talented poet, George was raised by the state due to a terrible home life. He was increasingly drawn into gang life in part for protection. When he ended up in the juvenile court system, he started writing poems that Sister Janet helped him hold onto. George had less hope for himself than Geri and he ultimately was sentenced ten years in prison for his crimes. Humes thinks that George was failed by the system.
