Gasher is the Gray that kidnaps Jake and takes him below the city to Tick-Tock's underground fortress. Gasher is not afraid of dying because he is near the point of death anyway. Jake does learn, however, that the man is afraid of being embarrassed in front of his friends and leader. In fact, Gasher tries to strangle Jake because Jake tells the Tick-Tock man that Gasher had the secret password to the underground fortress written down on a slip of paper in his head wrap. Gasher is killed by Roland when Roland is finally able to enter the locked room.
