Freddy is another drunk who spends much of his time in Mahoney's. Freddy was once a police detective and he taught Milo how to follow a suspect without giving himself away. When Nickie hires Milo to follow the mistress of a friend, Milo puts Freddy on the case. Freddy is happy to help Milo and does a superb job. Freddy also instructs Milo on carrying a concealed weapon for extra safety. That same night, Milo is mugged and kills one of his attackers with that concealed weapon.
