Japanese American, Frank Emi, was a married man with two children. He was placed in the Heart Mountain internment camp during World War II. When officials tried to recruit him for military service, Frank refused and went on to form the Heart Mountain Fair Play Committee. He was arrested for conspiracy to violate the Selective Service Act, and as a result, he served four years at Leavenworth.
