Florville is the central character in the story, Florville and Courval. She is described as an attractive woman in her mid-30s, who was abandoned on the doorstep of a wealthy couple as an infant. Florville grows up completely unaware of her true parents identity. Her ignorance thus allows for the coincidence of unknowingly becoming pregnant by her brother, and later, being raped by and killing her own son, testifying against her mother in a murder trial, and marrying and conceiving a child by her own father. When Florville learns the truth about her parentage and the people who've surrounded her..... she commits suicide.
