Felix Mortimer is the sheriff in Pierre. Felix has strong opinions about the Italians and gypsies and other people he sees as immoral. Therefore, when Bennie comes to town Felix immediately begins to pick on him. When Andrew finds the still on his father's land, he eventually realizes it is Felix's. Andrew catches him red handed and publishes a picture of it in the paper along with a well-written article on the incident.
