Eugenie is the pupil of the philosophical discourses and sexual intermingling of The Bedroom Philosophers. A seventeen-yea-old virgin at the beginning of the narrative, she is sent to Madame de Saint-Ange's boudoir by her libertine father over the objections of her mother. The most dynamic character of the story, Eugenie begins her sexual odyssey as an innocent surrogate for the reader and becomes the most cruel and lascivious of the libertines.
