Enid's father is never referred to by his first name, but he did change his last name from "Cohn" to "Coleslaw" to hide his Jewish heritage. He has been married three times but is single during most of the book. Enid's father presses her to attend college at Strathmore, and he is visibly disappointed when she fails the entrance exam. He is, however, very accommodating of his daughter's unusual lifestyle choices.
