Edward VI was the son of King Henry VIII and his third wife Jane Seymour. He inherited his father's throne at the age of nine. Edward VI was well-read, well-spoken, and determined to carry out his late father's wishes. He resented his uncle, the Lord Protector Somerset, preferring his uncle Seymour. History tells us that Edward had the potential to be a strong King and figurehead for England. Unfortunately, he died at the age of fifteen from consumption, or tuberculosis.
