Pulitzer-Prize winner, Edward Humes, is a writer and the author of How Loud I Shout. Humes' role in the book is primarily one of an primarily observer. He records exactly what he sees, but he almost never records his interactions with others. Humes teaches a writing class for juveniles, which in turn, led him to encounter the seven children he followed in 1994.
