Dr. Franz Lezander is the veterinarian who cares for Rebel after he is hit by a car. Cory is so overwhelmed and impressed by the way he takes care of his dog that he think about becoming a vet himself. When Cory learns that Dr. Lezander is allergic to milk and was caring for the parrots, however, he begins to entertain the idea that Dr. Lezander might be the mysterious killer. Before Cory can do anything with his information, his father learns that Lezander and his wife are actually German soldiers who were cruel to Jews at a concentration camp. The vet's real name is Gunther Dahninaderke, and he is a German doctor..... someone who chose who would live or die in the concentration camp. Dr. Dahninaderke was the killer of the mysterious man, who tried to blackmail him and threatened to reveal his true identity.
