Doris and her two sons were evacuees, who were sent to live with Sophie, Lawrence and Penelope at the start of the war. Doris initially irritated the couple with her loud behavior and sharp tongue, but over time, Doris learned to fit in well with Porthkerris community and became an important family member. After the war, she decided to stay in Porthkerris and eventually married the handyman who helped the family during the war.
