Don Ramon du Saldana owns the Rancho El Coda. The ranch is a twenty-five thousand acre spread located near Bexar. Alvara and Benita Saldana are Ramon's parents, both of Spanish descent. He had seven sons; two were tortured to death by the Apache, one died of cholera, and four died in the line of service to the king. Don Ramon also has a thirteen-year-old granddaughter named Trinidad whom he dotes on.
