Doctor Condor sreves as Hofmiller's foil. He is described as short, stout, and lacking in manners. Condor is compassionate toward others, something that leads him to do good. Hofmiller's pity, however, leads him to lie and deceive. Doctor Condor's actions remind the reader that care, love, and compassion are good things..... especially if they are enacted without selfishness.
