Dionysia appears in Shakespeare's, Pericles, Prince of Tyre. She is Cleon's wife, and the woman with whom Pericles leaves his daughter, Marina, to be cared for and educated. Over time, Dionysia becomes very jealous of Marina's beauty, intelligence and talents..... noting that her own daughter has none of these qualities. This jealousy, leads Dionysia to plot Marina's murder.
