Who is Desdemonda from Tales from Shakespeare and what is their importance?

Desdemona is Brabantio's daughter. Her father is a rich senator of Venice, Italy. Desdemona falls in love with the famed Othello and marries him. She is later killed by her husband because of his rage and jealousy, which is tragically unfounded.
