Deborah is the second Mayfair witch. She was conceived by the May Fair queen during the Spring festival, thus, the townspeople are against burning her alongside her mother when they normally would have. Deborah's father is unknown, and the fact that he could be anyone..... means the town finds Deborah to be lucky.

Over the course of the novel, Deborah leaves her homeand marries the painter Rembrandt van Rijn and becomes wealthy, After her husband's death, she marries the Comte de Montcleve and moves to France..... but not before seducing Petyr van Abel. Deborah is happy in her marriage, but her husband is blatantly unfaithful. Lasher later causes the accident that kills the Comte because he believes that Deborah would want it so. The Comte's family, however, use his death to accuse Deborah of witchcraft.
