Cynthia is a drifter, a young woman who is hitch-hiking even though there is great danger. She trusts her own judgment, and is insanely brave. Her intuition serves her well. Her role in the story is to be the one who immediately knows there is a bad spirit capable of killing them all, and to move the group forward in connection with David's advice.
